The Worlds First Time Machine

"The Worlds First Time Machine" is a documentary that was released by The Discovery Channel back in 2003. It follows the research of Dr. Ron Mallett - one of the leading researchers and philosophers in the field of time travel.

I saw this particular video almost a year ago, and ever since then, I have been wanting to watch it again. However, it has not been as easy as you think - the full video has been removed from Video Google and YouTube several times over, and even attempted to download it, and reupload it under an anonymous name so it would not be removed. These attempts have all proved unsuccessful, but I was able to find the documentary split into 5 seperate parts. Its the best I could do. Definitly worth watching if you are a physics fanatic.

Part I:

Part II:

Part III: (definitly one of the more interesting parts -> Time Clock)

Part IV:

Part V:

*I have a feeling I will be adding more posts regarding physics and scientific methods. For some reason, these have always fascinated me, which is funny because science is easily my worst field.

Enjoy! And Please Comment!

I watched all 5 parts and although it was interesting, I was still unable to wrap my mind around the concept of time, let alone time travel. I understand that the satellites may be thrust 0.00002 seconds ahead of us (well I don't actually understand it, but I can grasp the concept). What I dont understand is even how a black hole could work. It's not like any man has ever been sucked into a black hole and if they have, they're aren't around to tell about it. There's no logic promoting the idea that it could thrust us back to the past. Which is way I can't wrap my mind around the light-black hole type thing that is being constructed.

It all has to do with the effect that gravity has on this man-made 'thing' called "Time." Gravity can either be used to slow down, or in most cases speed up an object at disproportionate speeds that can cause it to go from one place, to another almost instantaneously.

A black hole, in theory, is essentially a massive vortex of gravity that literally engulfs anything, and everything around it, into it. As you travel further into the blackhole, gravity gets stronger theoretically speeding you up. The ends of Black Holes are unknown, but there is evidence that the length and speed at which light gets sucked in indicates that a Black Hole could tear an opening into another galaxy/universe/dimension.

Despite all theories, the sad fact is that in our current state of technology, no human, or animal could ever entire a black hole and hope to survive. The force of gravity becomes so immense, that the ship/human would already be deceased long before it reached the midway point.

Oh, and Ben, in regards to the 'thrusting of satellites 0.00002 seconds ahead of us' means that in actuality, we are creating time travel - by having an object, at a different period in "time" other than that of the Present.

Think about it. (And thanks for reading/watching the post! Now where's everyone else!?)

What's up.

So, I also watched all five parts. Throwing this up for discussion, are humans three dimensional beings?

My response: When you are first born, and in your first few months or years of life, you are a two dimensional being; what you see is what you get. Then you play 'peekaboo' with a baby (say, with a piece of paper), the baby doesn't realize that there is something behind the piece of paper. To them, there is only the paper. Only later, with experience, do they realize that there is depth to their world, that that square really is a cube.

Now, our brains are like a sponge, so we can to learn something through experience, such as learning about fire! Fire is hot, touch it once, you won't touch it again. It is possible to learn this third dimension simply through experience. But is it possible to learn about the fourth dimension, time, through experience? That the cube really is a tesseract? I don't believe so. I believe it would have to be taught to us, though I doubt the human mind could even comprehend it, specifically because we don't know what the constraints or restrictions of that dimension are. The show briefly touched on it with the parallel universe theory, but it ends at that. What binds time? If you travel back or forward in time, is it responsible to assume that time travels at the same constant that we've set in the present? Light travels faster as it gets closer to the black hole, what happens to time (either when it encounters the black hole or something else beyond human realization)?

If we were taught about the fourth dimension's restraints, consequences and all that jazz and we gained the technology to travel through time, would we still be able to even comprehend it, or would we continue to try to explain and exploit it in third dimensional-terms? To play with the fourth dimension, we would have to experience it, thus becoming creatures of the fourth dimension. I don't think it is possible, but, in a parallel universe, with different laws of physics, it may be. And people in that universe may live happily ever after, creating their own little paradise. Or, the entire human species could be gone in a blip thanks to some blunder someone did. It also might explain why we've never experienced "alien life," as certain aliens may be fourth dimensional, and we might only be able to see them for .000001 of a second.

It's late, I don't know if I'm making any sense anymore :p I just wanted to write on your cute, shiny new blog!

Well Thanks Tim, I appreciate the insight and you bring up a theory of dimensions that I had never even thought of. Well done...

Your theory on the comprehension of dimensions through experience holds some validity to it, and that one could even go further by justifying your 'alien/time travel' theorem by pointing out the speed at which UFO's tend to appear/dissapear and even the notion of Deja Vu could be linked. Just a thought... dont know if it makes any sense :)

I like the theory of alternate life-forms (such as aliens) existing as fourth dimension beings.
Take the video Chris posted on UFOs for example: There was a point in the movie where, without infrared, nothing could be seen in the sky. However, once the infrared camera was introduced, some sort of UFO was seen. Is it possible that the UFO in question only existed as light, or in a state of light?

I'm just throwing out random thoughts, but I find the whole thing very interesting.

Ben, well done... I completely missed that! The idea that was really intriguing me while reading Tim's theory was Dr. Mallett's demonstration of being in two places at once. There is another video that demonstrates Tim's theory even better. Let me try to find it.

Edit: Here it is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y9KT4M7kiSw

I found this too - this is relevant to the perception of viewing interdimensional beings.
